Psalm 97:5 “The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.”
Mixed Media : Acrylic paint and paper on canvas : 1′ x 2′
This piece was primarily painted with my hands solely, very little brush work at all. The texture allows the viewer to their hands over the piece and feel the mountainous terrain that God has control over. Creating abstract art that is not only appealing to the eye, but to the hand as well, is very important to me.
As I am legally blind without contacts or glasses, I have had a deep set fear since age 10 that I would be blind by the time I hit my twenties. Being 20 now, with eyesight worse than the average 60 year old, creating abstract art that can be felt is just as critical as how my pieces look.
This is the first piece of my God Breathed collection and as such I wanted to reach not only those who can see the Word of God but feel it too.
Molding construction paper along with paint I was able to achieve the rockiness and hard edges I desired in this abstract piece of art. Mixing my acrylics with water helped give this mountain art piece the melted look, as Psalm 97:5 refers to how the mountains will melt like wax.
As a whole, the mountains are cascading and falling into each other. The snowy caps show that God has domain over every type, in every weather, at any time.
I am incredibly pleased with the outcome. I just wish you could feel it through your computer screen. Alas, it now belongs to a private owner in Leesburg, FL.
